Based on water sample results from Monday, July 17, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has recommended a swim advisory be posted for Centennial Park Beach in Barrie.
The city says staff are currently posting advisory signs and will be re-sampling the beaches on Wednesday.
The city says it will provide an update on the advisory once more information is received from the health unit.
During a swim advisory, signs are posted to indicate recent water samples show bacteria levels that may increase risk of developing minor skin, eye, ear, nose or throat infections or stomach illness.
If you choose to swim during an advisory, health officials recommend you avoid dunking your head or swallowing the water.
