A swim advisory that had been posted last week at Centennial Beach in Barrie has been lifted.
According to city officials, bacteriological results from samples taken on Aug. 30 are within the "acceptable range" for recreational water use. Environmental compliance staff are removing the signs from the beach today.
The advisory had been put in place on Aug. 24 following water samples taken last Monday (Aug. 23).
The recent beach posting marked the second time in August that a swim advisory has been placed on the popular Barrie beach.
During a swim advisory, signs are posted to indicate recent water samples show bacteria levels that may increase risk of developing minor skin, eye, ear, nose or throat infections or stomach illness. If you choose to swim during an advisory, health officials recommend you avoid dunking your head or swallowing the water.
