An explosion and electrical fire rocked an Orillia manufacturing plant Thursday.
While details are scant, Orillia's deputy fire chief, Chris Ferry, said crews responded to "an explosion and electrical fire" at Kubota.
He said three workers were injured and taken to hospital. The extent of their injuries is not known.
Ferry said firefighters were able to extinguish the fire at the cavernous Commerce Road facility. In all, there were 15 Orillia Fire Department staff on scene, in addition to firefighters from both Rama First Nation and Severn Township.
Those working the afternoon shift were told not to report to work today as part of the building has been closed.
The Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal, the provincial Ministry of Labour and OPP are investigating the incident, said Ferry.
More information will be provided when it becomes available.
