If you didn’t know Christmas is on its way, Georgian Mall made that official Saturday morning with their annual Santa’s Arrival and Breakfast.
About 300 people lined up this morning in the mall's food court for a $5 breakfast and a chance to see the jolly old elf.
All proceeds from this morning's event go to the Seasons Centre for Grieving Children. Donations were also being accepted for Barrie and District Christmas Cheer.
Georgian Mall’s general manager Jodi Chamberland says staff start planning for the Christmas season the previous January to get ready for the busiest part of the shopping season.
“This is obviously the kick-off to our big retail season and the mall will be packed with shoppers,” said Chamberland. “That said, we want to create memories for our shoppers. Going around listening to people talk about how they’ve been coming here every year with their kids makes us know we’re part of a tradition in our community.”
Santa Claus arrived at 8:30 a.m. and the jolly old elf walked down the breakfast line-up to greet people before heading to his village near the escalators for pictures.
Brittany Lockwood was in line with her husband, Carlo, and three-year-old daughter Riley, who was playing a little shy when Santa appeared.
“This is our first year coming and we felt like it would be a great way to start the season before also heading to the parade later today," said Lockwood.
