SPRINGWATER TOWNSHIP — At 8:50 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, Springwater Fire & Emergency Services responded to a reported structure fire off of Penetanguishene Road in Orr Lake.

Stations from Elmvale and Hillsdale responded to the fire and upon arrival found a 12x12 shed fully involved.

An additional tanker from Minesing was requested to assist with water.

The fire was knocked down quickly and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was a campfire that had not been properly extinguished a few nights ago.

Approximately $8,000 in damages resulted.

“Residents are reminded that the Springwater Township Fire Danger Rating remains at HIGH and caution should be used when lighting a fire,” says Jeff French, Interim Deputy Fire Chief. “Never leave a fire unattended and ensure it is fully extinguished with plenty of water prior to leaving.”
