Do you have an interest in South American birds?
This event, hosted by Nature Barrie, could be for you.
Hosts will talk about the Birds of Colombia on Friday, Jan. 17 from 7:30-9:30 p.m., at Northwest Barrie United Church Hall, located at 464 Ferndale Dr. N.
The evening will include speakers Chris Evans, Alex Mills and Ian Cook.
Colombia has more bird species than any other nation on Earth. In fact, its species total is close to that of all of Africa! Caribbean lowlands, Pacific coastlines, the Andes mountains and rainforest lowlands: Colombia has it all!
The country's great diversity of birds fills these landscapes, with many birds unfamiliar to northerners, including spectacular hummingbirds and tanagers.
Three Nature Barrie members joined three others in February 2019 to do a trip of a lifetime to Colombia, and they weren't disappointed. Hear how Colombia is experiencing a renaissance following several dark decades, including a burgeoning eco-tourism sector.
