The Georgian Grizzlies men’s and women’s basketball teams wrapped up their eastern road trip on Saturday when they took on the Loyalist Lancers in Belleville.

Playing their second game in less than two days proved to be a tough challenge for the women’s team against the Lancers.

The game was tight at halftime but in the second half the Lancers were able to pull away to a 68-47 victory.

Cassidy Warren-Timpano (Barrie) led the way for the Grizzlies with a team high 12 points while Eden Young (Tottenham) had nine points in the loss.

In the men’s game, the Grizzlies lost their scoring touch in the second quarter leading to the Lancers pulling away and eventually defeating Georgian 85-64.

Anthony Meggo (Whitby) had a team-high 23 points while teammate Sean Dutton (Orillia) had 10 points in a team-high 33 minutes.

The Grizzlies will play their next home games on Saturday, Jan. 19 at the Georgian Athletic Centre in Barrie. First the women’s team will host the St. Lawrence Vikings at 1 p.m. followed by the men’s game which has Georgian taking on the Fleming Knights at 3 p.m.
