What to do in the last week of summer

It’s the last week of summer fun for the kids, No pressure families, but time to go all out

The Barrie Baycats start the IBL Championship finals at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Here are some things around town for all ages to immerse themselves in all Barrie has to offer.

Monday, August 29:

The Barrie Public Library continues its week-long fun with story drop-ins and Lego games. Today at 2:30 p.m. is Wild About Lego

The Park Place Outdoor Movie tonight is Aladdin. Head to the shopping centre for 7:30 p.m. and bring a lawn chair and/or blanket.

Tuesday, August 30:

Head to the Holly Rec Centre for 6 p.m. as a two hour Jam Night takes place for all budding musicians ages 12-17. Bring your own instruments as local musician Shawn Steinhart and the Holly staff provides the platform those at any skill level. Some acoustic guitars and drums will be provided, but check out the website for more details.

The Barrie Baycats start the IBL Championship finals at 7:30 p.m. against their rivals, the Toronto Maple Leafs. Barrie has won back to back titles and is looking for the threepeat. Check the website for ticket prices and schedule.

The Simcoe County Museum will be showing the Jungle Book as an outdoor film at 8:15 p.m. Bring a chair, blanket and a pop and they’ll provide the popcorn.

Wednesday, August 31:

The weekly Barrie Thunder Classic Cruise Nights continues at Heritage Park from 5 p.m. until dusk.

The Barrie Film Festival’s Lawn Chair Luminata provides a big time out door movie at dusk as Star Wars: Episode VII- The Force Awakens lights up Heritage Park

Thursday, September 1:

The Barrie Colts annual Blue and White game at 7 p.m. will get you ready for another great Colts season. Head over the Barrie Molson Centre earlier though and get some free hot dogs and pop at 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and then enjoy the free admission to the game. GO Colts Go!

Friday, September 2:

The Painswick branch of the BPL will be getting in the movie night mood as they show Flicka from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Saturday, September 3:

The Moonlight Market in Collingwood is fun for the whole family on the last long weekend of the summer. From 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. you can shop at craft and food vendors as live music fills the night sky. The fourth annual event takes place on Second and Pine Streets.
