Barrie Jr. Colts U16 AAA squad now ranked No. 2 in Ontario

The Barrie Jr. Colts U16 AAA team is ranked No. 2 in the province this week.

The high-powered Barrie Jr. Colts under-16 AAA team moved up one spot to No. 2 in the OHL Cup provincial rankings after winning the Toronto Marlboros Holiday Classic tournament.

On Tuesday, the Ontario Hockey League announced the Week 6 edition of its weekly U16 AAA rankings for the 2024 OHL Cup Showcase Tournament, which takes place in March.

While the Barrie team gained one spot in the rankings, the tournament finalist Oakville Rangers are also on the rise, climbing to No. 4.

The Quinte Red Devils, who reached the quarterfinals of the Marlies event, make their first appearance of the season inside the top-10, coming in at No. 10 to enter the new year.

The 2024 OHL Cup will feature 20 teams consisting of talent eligible for the 2024 OHL Priority Selection. Starting with three wild-card play-in match-ups on Monday, March 25, all games will be played at the Scotiabank Pond in Toronto until the championship final moves to the Mattamy Athletic Centre on Saturday, March 30.

The weekly rankings are determined by a panel of OHL Central Scouting staff and represent the top teams that are competing to play in the annual year-end championship tournament.
