Barrie girls went undefeated in the five-game tournament after posting a 32-2 record during the season

The Barrie Royals U10 basketball team won the provincial championship last weekend to cap off a stellar season on the court.

The following was submitted of behalf of the Barrie Royals basketball organization:

The Barrie Royals under-10 girls team won the provincial championship last weekend after a close game against Transway, winning 25-24 and completing the five-game tournament undefeated.

The U10 team, led by coaches Mike Dominelli, Paul Zyla and Jocelyn Houben, had a strong season, rounding out 34 games with 32 wins and only two losses.

The team brought some past experience playing rep basketball, with four returning players and eight new players this season.

The team includes Harper Battrick, Londyn Houben, Saige Barrowclough, Sofia LoGreco, Sophia Knapp, Emmerson Thomas, Josephine Zyla, Sophia Dominelli, Isabella Ashwood, Claire Gallagher, Lilah Simpson, and Hailey Bartlett.

After beginning their season in Pool 'C', the team proved they could fight for the top spot and landed in the provincial tournament seeded seventh going into the weekend.

The Barrie Royals Basketball Club congratulates the coaches, players and team as a whole on their outstanding accomplishment. They join only a very small number of teams in Royals Basketball history to become provincial champions.
