The Barrie Colts have placed the 'C' on No. 22.
Luke Bignell, a 19-year-old Kitchener native who's in his third season with the team, has been named the new captain of the Barrie Colts.
The team made the announcement tonight on Twitter ahead of their game in London.
Bignell joins names like Bryan Little, Dalton Prout, Aaron Ekblad, Daniel Tkaczuk and even current Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe as players who've held the captaincy.
In 160 OHL games over three seasons dating back to 2017-18, Bignell has 26 goals and 32 assists, plus one goal in 12 playoff games. He is second in team scoring this year with 10 goals and 17 assists in 36 games.
Bignell was drafted by the Colts in the fifth round (85th overall) of the 2015 OHL Priority Selection.
The Colts named a new captain after trading Jason Willms to London this week.
