OWEN SOUND — The Barrie Colts snapped their eight-game losing streak with a 4-3 victory over the Owen Sound Attack on Sunday afternoon in Ontario Hockey League action.

Barrie's last win was an overtime victory at home against the Hamilton Bulldogs on Nov. 30.

Colts goalie Jet Greaves stopped 52 of 55 shots he faced today, improving his record to 5-7-2 on the season.

On Sunday afternoon at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre, Colts forward Ryan Suzuki, who has previously missed 15 games due to an eye injury and who is still wearing a full cage, opened the scoring just seven minutes into the game. Tyson Foerster had the assist.

Owen Sound went up 2-1 with a pair of goals in just over two minutes from Sergey Popov and Kaleb Pearson to close out the opening period.

Barrie scored three straight goals in the second period — off the sticks of Matthew Sredl, Jason Willms and Luke Bignell — to put the visitors up 4-2.

The Attack's Daylon Groulx scored late in the second period to put Owen Sound back to within one, but that's as close as they'd get.

Barrie native Barret Kirwin had a pair of assists in the game for the Attack.

The Colts are 14-15-2-1 on the season and sit in sixth place in the OHL's Eastern Conference.

The Colts are back in action on Tuesday night when they host the Guelph Storm in their traditional New Year's Eve game at Sadlon Arena. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
