The Mariposa School of Skating is thrilled to announce a landmark event as it welcomes 150 skaters from around the world to the Allandale Recreation Centre this week.

This gathering marks a special occasion as we welcome back world champion Jeffrey Buttle, who will provide lessons at our annual seminar on Thursday and Friday for the first time since his 2008 world championship win.

Throughout the week, skaters have had the exceptional opportunity to train and receive lessons from the esteemed Mariposa staff. This year, we have embraced a new adventure by welcoming adult skaters, a venture that we hope will inspire our young athletes to remain active throughout their lives.

“Our goal is to continue this journey of engaging skaters of all ages,” said Paul Matheson, co-owner of the Mariposa School of Skating. “We believe in fostering a lifelong love for skating.”

The excitement continues as Mariposa athletes prepare for the Next Gen camp, marking the beginning of their journey towards securing international competition assignments. This is a pivotal step in their athletic careers, and we are immensely proud of their dedication and hard work.

We invite the community to join us at the rink on June 27 or 28 until 3 p.m. to witness the vibrant energy and passion of our skaters, guided by founder Douglas Leigh, owners Paul Matheson and David Islam, and our talented coaching team including Mitch Islam, Janice Morgan, Robert Tebby, Michael Hopfes, Amanda VanDriel, James Callan, Kelly Johnson, and Ryan Arnold.
