Records fall at 2020 Pentathlon swim meet

More than 200 swimmers from four clubs took part in the meet at East Bayfield

The Barrie Trojan Swim Club (BTSC) hosted the 2020 Pentathlon swim meet Feb. 29 - March 1 at East Bayfield Community Centre which saw more than 200 swimmers from four swim Clubs compete for the titles of Ironman, Mid-distance and Sprint Distance champions. 

Trojan swimmers pushed the boundaries of the meet by breaking meet records for 37 events across all age groups. Taryn Fenton (14 Female) broke the only club record for 13-14 Female 50 Fly SCM, with a time of 29.98 (Old record E. Thomas 30.32, 01.12.2019).

The Ironman Pentathlon consists of the lowest cumulative time for swimmers competing in the combined events of 200 butterfly, 400IM (Individual Medley), 800 freestyle, 400 freestyle and 1500m freestyle.  This grueling event truly displayed the focus and fitness of our BTSC swimmers and all Ironman participants. The Ironman events were followed by the Mid distance champions, where lowest cumulative times in the 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke, 100 freestyle and 200IM saw some outstanding personal best times.  Congratulations to our BTSC mid distance medalists:

The final events of the Pentathlon were the 50 butterfly, 50 backstroke, 50 breastroke, 50 freestyle and 100IM.  These exciting ‘splash and dash’ events saw our swimmers cheer for their teammates and the cumulative times crowned the sprint distance champions. Congratulations to:

There were two swimmers who qualified for the Ontario Youth Junior Championship.  Jack Serre qualified in the 400IM and Olivia Wilson in the 100 Fly. Congratulations on making qualifying times.
