It is with profound sadness that the family of Cécile Burke (née Bouchard) announces her peaceful passing on July 18th, at Hospice Simcoe in Barrie, Ontario.

Cécile was born in Noelville, Ontario, on January 24th, 1945, daughter of Omer and Rose Bouchard.

Cécile is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 61 years, John (Jack) Burke. Their love story is one of a kind and one that will continue to live on.

She was the warm and loving mother of Maureen Fleguel (Mark), Colleen Sauvé (Grant) and Erin Monker (Mark). She cherished her role as a mother and found immense joy in her daughters’ lives.

Cécile was sister to Colombe (d), Eloi (d), Claire (d), Pauline (d), Edward, Fernande (d), Richard, Jeannine (d), Gilles (d), and Mariette (d). Her legacy continues through her seven grandchildren, Keane, Matt, Brett, Brawne, Brock, Cody and Cailin.

Cécile had a life well lived, full of love and purpose. She was a passionate gardener, an amazing cook and baker; skills she generously shared with family and friends. She was an extremely curious and inquisitive person, who also had a very witty sense of humour. She was a member of Probus, and was also a member of the Catholic Women’s league. In earlier years she was very active with Brownies, and the Girl Guides of Canada, becoming leaders in both organizations. Cécile’s greatest joy came from spending time with her family, creating cherished memories that will be forever treasured.

Cécile will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her kindness, warmth, and love for her family will remain in our hearts forever.

The family would like to express their deep gratitude for the care and compassion they received at the Royal Victoria Hospital ICU and Stroke and Rehabilitation centre, as well as from all the staff at Hospice Simcoe.

There will be a small immediate family only private ceremony at Adam’s Funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or Hospice Simcoe.
