May 14, 1928 - September 24, 2024

Dolores Caldwell passed away peacefully in the early hours of September 24, 2024 at Royal Victoria Hospital after a brief illness. She was 96. She is predeceased by her husband of 68 years Harold Caldwell and now they are reunited walking hand in hand. Family was the most important thing in the world to Dolores. She will be forever missed by her son Larry Caldwell (and Marilyn) and her daughter Cathy McElroy (and Dave). Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and they will miss her dearly – Carrie Havers (and Jeff), Chris Caldwell (and Ashley), Scott McElroy (and Michelle). She was fortunate to have two great grandchildren, Daneika Havers & Carter Caldwell, who never failed to bring a smile to her face.

Dolores spent almost all of her life in Oro township where she was raised in a family of 7 children. She shared many happy memories of her growing up years with her family. The bond of her brothers and sisters was strong throughout her lifetime. They have all predeceased her. She was blessed to have many dear and wonderful friends in her life. For many years she attended the Guthrie United Church along with her friends and family until it closed its doors; later attending the First Baptist Church in Barrie. Her belief in God was strong and the Church brought her great comfort.

Dolores was the kindest lady you could ever meet. She always had a big hug, a warm smile and a kind word for all she met. She endeared herself to everyone. She would be the first to tell you that she had a wonderful life. Dolores and Harold’s favourite vacation trip was driving all the way to western Canada. Together they made 20 trips across the country. Taking different routes, stopping in to visit friends and family along the way, seeing the sights; taking their time and stopping to smell the roses. They also enjoyed roaming the country roads of Oro and beyond. They had a happy life. We her family will miss her dearly and will hold her love for us and the memories she gave us in our hearts.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday October 2, 2024 at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church, Grove Street, Barrie followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm. There will be a reception to follow at the Church with burial taking place immediately following the reception at Guthrie United Church Cemetery. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to First Baptist Church.
