Clayton, Edward Richard passed peacefully on Sunday December 31, 2023, at Hospice Simcoe with family by his side at the age of 81 years.

Born in Toronto and raised in Windsor, Ontario by the late Audley and Jean Clayton. Edward joined the Canadian Armed Forces proudly serving his country for 28 years as a Military Police Officer reaching the rank of Master Warrant Officer when he retired. Through his career, he was posted to many military bases across Canada including in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Ontario, Quebec and also to Lahr, Germany. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion.

Edward was a devout parishioner of Catholic faith who committed to his beliefs through action.

Edward is survived by his wife Mary of 14 years, his son Darryl (Wendy) of McKellar, his daughter Karen (Eric) of Kingston, his stepchildren Carl, Paul, Rebekah, David and John, his sisters Patricia of London and Margaret of Windsor. He will be sadly missed by his 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and by his many nieces and nephews. Edward was preceded in death by his late wife of 45 years Natalie of Barrie, his brother Allan of Windsor and sister Judy of London.

The family wishes to thank all those medical professionals who cared for and showed so much compassion for Edward during his palliative care including the staff at Grandma’s Home Health Care, Home & Community Care Services North Simcoe, St. Elizabeth Home Care, and Hospice Simcoe.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
