With heavy hearts, we announce Dorothy’s passing, on September 2nd, in her 97th year, at Grove Park Home. Wife of Don (pre-deceased 2011). Daughter of William and Lillian Jackson.
Cherished mother of Janis (Rick), and Lesley.
Loved grandmother of Jason (Jennie), Adam (Christy), Shawn, Stephanie (Mike) and Kristy (Dave).
Great-grandmother of Aaron, Colin, Kenzi, Olivia and Noah.
Sister of Alan Jackson (pre-deceased) (Louise), and Ronald Jackson (Sue).
Dorothy was born in Oshawa in 1928. Her family moved to Regina, Saskatchewan where she spent much of her youth.
The family returned to Oshawa where she met her future husband, Donald Cordy.
Don and Dorothy were married in 1948 and started their family. The family relocated to Barrie in 1962.
Dorothy enjoyed many years of golfing as a member of the Shanty Bay Golf club and curling at the Barrie Curling Club.
Dorothy was a volunteer at the Gryphon Theatre and at the Royal Victoria Dialysis unit. She was also active in the K-40 Club.
She loved travelling, and enjoyed trips to Western and Eastern Canada and Europe. The most cherished time in her life was the time she spent with her family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday October 5th in the hall of Trinity Anglican Church, 24 Collier Street, Barrie, from 1-4 pm.
