aka “Esther Gallant”
aka “Esther Donald Mosey”

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear sister Esther at the age of 63 on September 17, 2024 after a long and fierce battle with cancer.

Predeceased by her loving husband of 33 years, Al Drobot, parents Isobel and Donald Gallant, and siblings Mary Lafferty, Dale Gallant, Janet Gallant, Dianne MacDonald, Nacy Gallant, Gordon Gallant and John Gallant.

Left to mourn is her cherished daughter, Jennifer Drobot (Erin) and siblings Gus Gallant (Maisy), Dora Grettum (Kerry), Elaine Gallant (Norbert), Molly Fortin (Bob), Nora Gallant (David), Leo Gallant (Bernie), Louise Gallant (Kenny) and sister-in-law Barb Gallant. She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In 1981, Esther left her beloved Prince Edward Island home to seek her fortune out West… Or to sponge off one of her sisters, we’re not sure which. She began a 20-year career at The Brick where she met her future husband Al. In 1987, they were transferred to Ontario and lived in Mississauga. In 1992, after 5 long years of infertility, they were blessed with the birth of their beautiful daughter, Jennifer. In 1994, wanting to raise Jennifer in a smaller community, they moved to Barrie. In May of 2001, Esther was laid off at The Brick and in August of the same year, she was hired by the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board. She remained there until her passing. In her years with the Board, she has made many friends who will miss her dearly.

A visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Parish (650 Essa Rd, Barrie, ON). A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow after Mass.

The family would like to give a special ‘Thank You’ to Esther’s oncologists, Dr. Lauren Gerard from Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie and Dr. Anca Prica from Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto, as well as the many nurses who took such good care of her while at the Royal Victoria Hospital Cancer Centre. We would also like to give a special ‘Thank You’ to the wonderful staff at Hospice Simcoe in Barrie.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Cancer Care Centre at RVH or to Hospice Simcoe in Barrie.
