January 4, 1947 - May 27, 2024

Passed away Peacefully, at Georgian Bay General Hospital, surrounded by his two children on May 27, 2024.

Born in Cochrane, Ontario, Paul was a proud and loving father to Karen Sauvé (Marc) and Greg

Dumoulin and special grandfather (Poppy) of Sebastien Sauvé. Paul was predeceased by his parents Leo Dumoulin (Trois Rivières, Québec) and Florence Linklater (Fort Albany, Ontario) and by his son in law Matthew Sauvé. The youngest of thirteen children, Paul was predeceased by his siblings, Jessie, Donald, Pauline, Lester, Louise, Lawrence, Phillip, Roland, Romeo, Randolph, Ellen and Raymond. Much loved Uncle Richard to his nieces and nephews. Remembered by many lifelong friends, neighbours, and colleagues.

Paul’s career spanned thirty plus years, serving with the York Regional Police, Barrie Police and Ambulance Service back in the day at the old RVH in Barrie. We couldn’t go anywhere without him running into an old work buddy or a familiar face he hadn’t seen in awhile. As kids, we would wait, withering on a chair somewhere, certain our dad must know everyone in town. Paul had a soft spot for butter tarts, baked beans and homemade bread. He loved nothing more than pulling out his guitar and singing a few Hank Snow, Hank Thompson and Johnny Cash tunes. Paul toured Ireland with the York Regional Police Male Chorus. An experience that left a lasting impression and inspired him to try his hand at poetry. He could put some heat on a fastball and spike a horseshoe or two. Retired in 2010 from York Regional Police, Paul enjoyed his waterfront walks, chatting with complete strangers and making friends with their dogs.

We will miss our dad’s stories of growing up in Northern Ontario, his little drawings on every birthday and Christmas card, his reminders to lock our doors and put the outside lights on and his search for the perfect slice of cold cream pie.

Our heartfelt appreciation and thanks for the compassionate care and kindness shown to our dad during his time at GBGH ICU and in the RVH Cancer Care Program. Thanks for the memories, Dad. Until we meet again. Go Habs.

In keeping with Paul’s wishes, cremation has taken place. We invite you to celebrate Paul (“Blackie”) Saturday July 13, 2024 at the ANAF Club, 52 Morrow Rd. Unit #365, Barrie from 1p.m. to 6p.m. Our dad loved a get together. Please join us while we share our stories and favourite memories.
