March 18, 1933 – November 28, 2024

Jack Drury Emms passed away peacefully with his children at his side, November 28th, 2024.  Born on March 18th, 1933, in Oro Township.  He married the love of his life, Olive Georgina Harradine (Nancy) on the 16th of March 1956 in Barrie.

Jack worked at several jobs including Barrie Tannery, Bread Delivery and window installer before going back to school to become a Master Electrician.  A member of the International Brotherhood of Electricians he worked throughout Ontario and the Northern Untied States.  He was a resolute father and husband who loved the outdoors, spending years camping and eventually building a camp on Wawashkesh Lake that created treasured memories that will live forever.

He was immensely proud of his three children; Stephen Emms (Dorothy), Danny Emms and Linda Marley (Wayne), his seven grandchildren; Jessica Brown (Porter), Brittaney Emms-Richards (Luke), Lucas Emms (Molly), Julia Gibbons (Luke), Jennifer Sollory (Jordan), Cory Marley (Candice), and Dana Marley (Rob Van Ballegooijen).  Jack adored his eleven great grandchildren:  Adeline Richards, Lilah Richards, Ellery Brown, Claria Brown, Lennox Brown, Cloe Marley Emms, Grayson Marley Emms, Holland Gibbons, Hadlee Myles, Brodie Myles and Lenora Van Ballegooijen.

Jack was predeceased by his father Edwin and mother Olive (Drury), his eleven siblings:  Joan, Hilda (Cockburn), Dalton, Kenneth, Velva (Sutton), Arla (Davis), Delbert, Joe, Everett, and Ross.  He is survived by his dear brother Carl.

He was known as a quiet, stoic man who became valued friends of the many individuals he met through his work as an electrician and his involvement in local sports and community.  A devoted family man, one could not have asked for a better person as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Jack will be missed forever, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all those who knew him.

Our family would like to humbly thank all those who supported us these last few months and weeks, especially Dr. Catherine Monnin, The Palliative Team, Bayshore Nursing and Hospice Simcoe for their excellent care.

A celebration of his life will be held in the Spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Simcoe would be appreciated.
