December 16, 1943 – September 2, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James “Jim” Fleming at the age of 80 on September 2, 2024, following a long-fought battle with cancer.

Jim was a loving brother to Robert (Molly), a devoted father to Emily (Jesse), and Andrew (Nicole), and a cherished grandfather to Ellie, Jack, and Beckett.  He found immense joy in his family, always sharing his love and wisdom.

It brings us all great comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with the love of his life, Lucy.

In addition to running a successful ServiceMaster franchise for many years, he was deeply involved in Scouting and Rotary, where he dedicated countless hours to service and community building.

Once retired, Jim was always ready to lend a hand and share his wisdom.  As a man of many talents, Jim enjoyed building decks and docks for friends and neighbours.

His favourite place on earth was the cottage on Union Jack Island, where he spent many happy years enjoying the tranquility of “the Pool”.  When friends and family visited, the air was often filled with laughter as he regaled everyone with his stories and jokes.  His sense of humor and storytelling ability were legendary, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Jim will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.  His legacy of love, laughter, and service will continue to inspire and guide us.

A celebration of Jim's life will be held in the near future, where we can gather to honor his memory and share cherished memories and stories.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Canadian Cancer Society or Movember Canada.

Rest in peace, Jim.  You will be deeply missed but your spirit will live on in our hearts forever.
