May 26, 1945 ~ November 4, 2024
It is with heartbreaking sadness that the family of Brian Footitt announces his passing unexpectedly on November 4, 2024, at the age of 79.
Brian was born in Toronto in 1945 and was the only child of the late Harold + Jean Footitt (nee Ridpath). He was predeceased by his parents and is survived by his loving wife Ann (nee Kotyluk) of 56 years along with children Michelle (Mark) Armatage and Christopher Footitt (Meredith). He was the most loved Papa to Emma, Ben, Calianne + Ethan.
Son in law to John + Mary Kotyluk (nee Welyki), Brother-in-law to Sylvia + William Sacharko (deceased), Gerry + Helen Kotyluk, Morris + Jane Kotyluk, Ernie Kotyluk (deceased) + Lorraine, Judy + John Iversen, Kennith Kotyluk (deceased) + Kathleen and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Brian loved life with all his family + friends to the fullest. He was happiest spending time with them. He developed deep relationships with those in his life.
Brian dedicated his career to being a pharmacist for over 50 years after graduating from the University of Toronto. His kind and caring manner of taking time with all his customers was very much appreciated by them and made a difference in the lives of others.
Brian overcame obstacles, was a curious learner + listener and wasn’t afraid to point out other ways that things could be done. He had a keen sense of humour along with a quick way with words. He was a role model + mentor with whatever needed to be done and did it with a determined work ethic. His thoughts inspired many.
Over the years Brian embraced varied interests from becoming a landscaping specialist turning the family property into abeautiful oasis for all to enjoy, travelling to other countries, collecting beautiful art, which is displayed throughout the family home, collecting coins and pursued his passion for literature and wrote several books. He loved enjoying time at home swimming in the pond, walking in the woods and spending time with family and friends.
The family would like to thank all of the staff, doctors and nurses at Stevenson Memorial Hospital in Alliston for their care of Brian.
As per Brian’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to Paul Kent Funeral Home, Cookstown, Ontario. A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Brian’s memory to either the Heart + Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
