It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we share the peaceful passing of Susanne George on Monday July 8, 2024 at the Hospice Muskoka, she was in her 77th year. She was predeceased by her parents Donald and Dorothy George. Susanne is the beloved sister to her predeceased older brother, Curtis (Jackie) George and her younger sisters, Elizabeth (Phil) Bradford and DeeDee (Don) McLean.

Susanne adored spending time with her family and hearing all about their adventures and achievements. She was the beloved Aunt Susie to Angela (Ray) McCuaig, Kevin (Francine) McLean, Cathy (Scott) Sears, Andrew (Cassie) Braford, Deborah (Kevin) Brooks, Lisa (Mike) Crone and Brigette (Rob) Sneddon. Susanne was a great aunt to Mackenzie, Jack, Owen, Braydon, Blake, Christopher, Zara, Thomas, Jenna, Nicole, Jack and Luke.

Susanne was fiercely independent and she enjoyed the simple things in life, rarely asking for help and so appreciative of the kindness of others. She understood the hardships faced by others and would show compassion and kindness in her words and actions.

Among her many occupations, Susanne found her most joy in her work boarding horses, as a Real Estate Agent, working in sales for Coach and teaching English to newcomers. When she was not working, she found joy in tending and caring for her horses and dogs, walking every day and meeting people, and spending time with her family.

Susanne was a beautiful and bubbly person, inside and out and she will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

In the last few weeks of her life Susanne lived with her niece Angela and family and she expressed how safe and comfortable she felt. Despite the pain from her illness, she always had a smile on her face and said “this is the happiest I have ever been and I know I am loved.”

Susanne’s family would like to thank the caring and supportive staff at Hospice Muskoka, the oncology staff at RVH and the kind and very helpful Home and Community Care Coordinator (Maki).

As per Susanne’s wishes, a cremation has taken place and there will be a celebration of her life at the Royal Canadian Legion on Ferris Lane in Barrie on Saturday August 10th from 1:00-4:00pm. All are welcome to share memories and stories of this lovely human being.

In Lieu of flowers, Susanne’s wishes are a donation to the Barrie Humane Society or the Women and Childrens Centre Barrie, in her name.
