November 12, 1962 ~ December 1, 2024

It is with great sadness that I, Mary DePlancke, announce the passing of my spouse John Gourley of 16 years.

John passed away peacefully at Matthews House December 1st at the age of 62. He will be lovingly remembered by his siblings Joan, Jim, Jerry, Joe (Cara) and Julie (Joe). Predeceased by parents Jim and Phyllis. John was born in Toronto and moved to Adjala when he was 9. He attended Adjala Public School and graduated from Banting Memorial. He went on to achieve his journeyman carpenter license at Georgian College. He loved hockey. He played many years in Beeton where his father was coach.

He went on to play four years for the Alliston Hornets as a forward and captain. He had faith, he was a Leaf fan until the end! He worked 40 years as a carpenter, working on numerous homes in New Tecumseth. He also worked at the Alliston Creamery and Baxter Labs. He retired in November 2023. The family wishes to send special thanks to everyone at Matthews House for their care and compassion. Also, special thanks go to Rob Winter and Terry Sullivan for their support and true friendship during John’s final journey. John’s kind heart touched many lives.

A celebration of life will be held in the spring 2025. (Details to follow)
