It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Steven Paul Harrison, beloved husband, dad, papa, and friend, on June 21, 2024. Steve passed away peacefully at Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto, surrounded by his loved ones after a courageous battle with melanoma.
Steve was born on April 25, 1956 in Brampton, Ontario to Jim (William James) and Carol Ann Harrison. He spent his early childhood with his siblings Curtis, Ruth, Marty, Jim, Mike and Kelly and many cousins, in Huttonville and Brampton, moving to Grey Highlands as a teenager where he eventually married and started his family.
In 1977, he married the love of his life, soul mate and best friend, Beverly, and they built a life together filled with many adventures including building their timber-frame home in the beautiful Beaver Valley, living abroad in New Zealand and many wonderful trips abroad, cycling, camping and kayaking.
Steve was known for his kindness, patience, unwavering support of his family and quirky sense of humour. He was a talented electrician who spent his career working on many of Toronto’s hospitals, bank towers and commercial buildings with a special interest in building automation. He loved the challenges of his trade and valued the friendships of his co-workers. A skilled tradesman, with an endless curiosity, he could build or repair anything he put his mind to. His endless tinkering with electronics, welding and woodworking resulted in the most weird and wonderful creations that surround us and keep him close to our hearts. His love of music drove him to self-teach many string instruments from his many cherished guitars to cello, viola, banjo and ukulele. Steve spent hours strumming the Beatles, Cat Stevens, Jimmy Hendrix and also had a spot for the classics. Steve took great joy being around his grandsons, fishing, building contraptions in the shop, and chauffeuring them around in his cherished pickup truck with pit stops at Tim Hortons.
He will be deeply missed by his wife Bev, children Andrew (Alexandra), Nicole (Corey) and grandsons Cole and Finn, siblings Curtis, Ruth, Marty, Jim, Mike and Kelly, mother Carole, sister in-laws Pamela and Marilyn, mother-in law Brenda, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Candace and father Jim, father-in-law Dave Rigden.
A celebration of life will be held to remember Steve at a future date.
