It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Irene Leclerc Jean-Hayward, who peacefully left this world on October 10th, 2024, at the age of 92. Born on June 3rd, 1932, Irene lived a full and vibrant life, leaving behind a legacy of love, loyalty, steadfastness and honour.

Irene was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a devout Catholic who spent her life serving others through her work with St. Mary's Parish, volunteering tirelessly with the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Catholic Women’s League. Her unwavering faith and commitment to her community were a testament to her character and the deep love she had for God and her church.

Irene was a devoted sister to her two best friends and companions, Jeanette and Teresa. Together, they shared a bond that's unbreakable, filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Throughout her life, Irene was blessed with the love of two husbands. Her first husband, Roland J. Jean, passed away in 1981, and her second husband, Walter Hayward, passed away in 2021. She was the proud mother of seven children who carry forward her spirit and strength: Marcel (father of the late Christopher) and Brenden, Lucille (wife of Terry, mother of the late Teddy) and Jeffery, and grandmother to Breanna, Jordan, and Kaleb, Susanne (wife of Terry, mother of the late Laura Lee) and Michelin, Lawrence (father of the late Luke) and Laurie-Dawn, and Leslie, and proud grandfather to Laurie-Dawn’s children Saleen and Khol, Luke’s daughter Lucie, and Leslie’s two girls Etnie and Brodie, Bernadette, mother of Courtney and grandmother to Mason, Denise, mother of Alex, Vena, and Mandy, and Ronny (husband of Debbie, father of Cody and Ashley, and proud grandfather to Nyla and Oliver).

She was a one-of-a-kind person who embraced the joys of her large family. We are ALL so blessed to have had her.

Irene's life was a testament to her love of family, her devotion to her faith, and her unwavering generosity. She touched the lives of so many, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A funeral mass was held at St. Mary’s Parish on October 17th, 2024, where Irene spent many years serving and worshipping. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society in her honour.

Her family finds comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her beloved husbands, grandchildren, loved ones and friends who have gone before her. Irene will forever be remembered for her strength, kindness, and the immense love she gave to all around her.
