Passed away peacefully on July 16, 2024, at the age of 87 years. Husband of the late Julia Rose (nee Geniole). Loving father of Rose (George), Nick (Tracy), and Christine. Special papa of Alicia (Matt), Justin (deceased), Derek, Nikki (Eric), Carley (Shane), and Chloe (Nick), and great-papa of Blake, Layla, Beau, Camryn, and Wrenley. Predeceased by his loving mother Annmarie, sister Wendy, and brother Bryant. Will also be remembered by many nieces and newphews.

Doug enjoyed his work with the City of Toronto in Parks and Recreation. He was cherished for his caring and compassionate nature, with a deep love for family, especially his grandchildren, who held a special place in his heart. Even in moments when his memory faltered, pictures of his grandchildren never failed to brighten his spirits. He was a devoted father, remembered for always being eager to lend a helping hand.

A Mass will be Celebrated at St. Mary’s Parish, 65 Amelia St., Barrie, on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 10 a.m., followed by a reception in the Parish Hall. A private inurnment will be held at a later date at St. Mary’s Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest near his grandson Justin.

The family extends sincere gratitude to the staff at Owen Hill Community Care for their exceptional care and support, affectionately referring to Doug as “Handsom Ted Danson.”
