Celebration of Life: LILLOW, Dorothy Elizabeth “Betty”

Dorothy Elizabeth “Betty” Lillow, passed away at Hospice Simcoe at the age of 84, on May 10, 2024. Betty was born February 20, 1940, in Toronto.

Betty lived in Barrie and worked as a devoted and enthusiastic teacher at King Edward and Hillcrest Public schools as well at Barrie Central Collegiate for 25 years as a beloved math teacher. 

Betty was an avid clarinet player and music lover, she played in the Barrie Concert Band, Base Borden Band and the Orillia Band.  As President of the Barrie Concert Band for 10 years, she acted as the spark that was realised as the Performance Center in Barrie Memorial Square.

In retirement, Betty and her husband of 42 years, Don, had many amazing travels, she tutored math for over 10 years.  Betty was a lover of people, had a big heart and beautiful smile - always engaging others with her friendly ways.  Betty has touched the lives of many, she will be sadly missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

We send our deep appreciation to Hospice Simcoe for the beauty and dignity they lovingly gave Betty in her final time. 

Survivors include her bereaved husband Don Lillow, daughter Wendy Weir, and son, John McEvoy, step-children Lindsey Taylor, Jonathan Lillow, 5 grandchildren, and her sister Pat Rowe.

Betty was preceded in death by her mother Dorothy Elizabeth Stafford and father Harold Stafford, as well sister Anne and stepson, Scott Lillow.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Southshore Community Centre, 205 Lakeshore Dr., Barrie, on Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 2-4 p.m.
