It is with deep sorrow and much love the family announces the passing of Terry Alexander McConnell of Barrie, Ontario, on Friday, August 16, 2024. Terry died peacefully with family by his side at the Royal Victoria Hospital at the age of 73.

Terry will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Dianne of almost 55 years, and children: Terry Jr., Tracey, Patricia (Carl) Priest, and Stephen (Claire). He was the proud grandfather of Matthew (Daisy), Meghan (Blake), Liam and Addison, and loving brother to John (predeceased), Brian, Wayne, Lynn (Doug) Glad, Ian (Karen), Joy (Darby) McClosky, Lisa (Bob) McConnell and Joel (predeceased). Family was very important to Terry and he loved them dearly including his extended family and close friends. It should be noted that Terry would be quick to lend a hand to those who needed it.

Terry was born in Parry Sound on June 9, 1951 to loving parents Mona McConnell (Nee Ruttan) and the late Vern McConnell. He started out as a carpenter before spending 18 years with CP Rail, which led to a stop in Smiths Falls, ON, before relocating his family to Barrie in 1984. While in Barrie Terry became involved with the Barrie Civitan Club and went back to his roots as carpenter by becoming a self contractor.

Terry will be remembered for his love of gardening, travelling, spending time at the cottage and most recently, camping at numerous Ontario Provincial Parks. When not travelling Terry loved to watch sports, in particular the Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs. It would not be uncommon finding Terry holding court telling stories from past experiences or current events.

The family wish to extend their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the staff at Royal Victoria Hospital and Southlake Regional Heath Centre. Their tireless care and dedication is greatly appreciated.

A visitation will take place at Adams Funeral Home (445 St. Vincent St. Barrie, ON) on Monday August 26, 2024 from 7:00pm – 9:00pm. A memorial service will follow at Adams Funeral home on Tuesday, August 27 at 1:00pm. A reception will take place after the service at the Anten Mills Community Centre (3985 Horseshoe Valley Road West, Anten Mills, ON.)

We love and miss you; you will always be with us, Terry, Dad, Grandpy.
