Joan McCutcheon, known by her husband simply as “Jo”, and by her grandkids as “Grandma Mac” passed away in the early morning on Tuesday, January 7th, 2025, at Hospice Simcoe in Barrie.

Joan was born on Saturday, August 5th, 1944, in Toronto.

After starting her family, she started her professional career as an elementary school secretary at Oakley Park and West Bayfield Elementary School where the students and faculty adored her.

Joan was a loving wife to her husband William McCutcheon.

An incredible mother to Bradley (Tracy) McCutcheon and Kelli McCutcheon (Blair Bigham). A cherished grandmother to; Tyler, Malcolm, Kailey, and Jordyn McCutcheon. A dear great-grandmother of Bridget.

Loved sister-in-law of Marion (Tom) Inward.

And an amazing friend to all of her golf and tea house girls.

Joan knew how to live a good life, when she wasn’t on a cruise somewhere exploring the world, you could find her at a Bluejays game, on the golf course with her girlfriends or surrounded by her family on the back patio or around a dinner table with her talented cooking filling their plates. Joan was kind, adventurous and loving beyond belief, she will be missed dearly by everyone lucky enough to have had her touch their lives.

At Joan’s and the family’s request, cremation has taken place.

A private celebration of Joan’s life will be held at a later date.
