It is with much sadness that the family of Janet Grace McNiece (nee; Burmania) announce her sudden passing on Saturday, November 16th, 2024, at the young age of 65.
She is predeceased by her parents Owen and Kina Burmania and by her husband Jim McNiece. Proud mother of Shauna (Raymon Van Campen) of Stayner, Yolanda (Justin Haight) of North Bay and Kieran (Etienne Desnoyers Tremblay) of Rapids des Joachims, Quebec. Dear nana to Ava, Kina, McKayla, Dyson, Seth, Addilyn and Tristan. She will be greatly missed by her siblings and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was highly respected in her work in hospital security and juvenile corrections. Her gift of deescalating tragic or volatile situations with perceptive sensitivity and a brilliant sense of humour was well known in both her professional and private life.
Janet will be remembered for her tremendous generosity, quick wit, joyful spirit, and endless creativity. The costumes she made were worthy of a broadway stage. Her gift baskets barely fit in a modern SUV. And no party ever really started until Janet arrived. Her boundless love of animals of every kind must also be noted. Her beloved cats Edgar Allen Poe and Ernest Hemingway, along with countless birds, squirrels and chipmunks will surely feel her absence. In fact, for all who knew her well, there is a little less light in the world since she left us.
A celebration of Janet’s life will be held on Saturday, December 7th, 2024 at the Royal Canadian Legion-Angus Branch 499, 15 Fraser Street Angus, ON. Greetings will take place at 4:00pm. Words of remembrance at 5:00pm, followed by a light supper and then a “party” in Janet’s honour.
In lieu of flowers, and as expressions of sympathy, donations to Furry Friends in Barrie. would be appreciated by the family.
