It's with great sadness that we share this news; on Monday the 7th of October 2024 at 20:58 Tom Murphy passed away because of a heart attack at the age of 68.

He was a beloved father, husband, brother, grandfather, friend, mentor, golfer, soldier, technician, and a gem of a human with a heart of gold.

Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on the 2nd of March 1956, he began his selfless service to the Country at an early age, joining the cadets at 11 years old, and the Princess Louise Fusiliers reserves shortly after in 1971. This led him to joining the regular force as a Weapons Technician in the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Corps where he served until 2007 at the rank of Master Warrant Officer. Although he took off his uniform at this time, he joined the team at Borden Base Maintenance, Weapons Section as a civilian fixing broken equipment and security containers.

He loved his job, and he loved helping others. He always took time to support someone in need and this was seen in many ways. One of which was his dedication to Scouts Canada, where Scouter Tom didn't only help while his son was involved but continued for many years after. Teaching survival skills and kindness to many children throughout the years.

He enjoyed his "semi-retired" life of golfing. Supporting many tournaments such as the Annual RCEME tournament and the backwards tournament to name a few. He was always a big part of committees that held meaning to him such as the LAD Borden 103 and the Royal Canadian Legion Angus Branch 499.

He lives on through his two grandchildren, Emily and Miles, his wife Diana, and his children Amanda and Thomas (Shauna). His brothers and sisters David, Paul (Wanda), Bobby (Ronda), Franky (Linda), Ronnie, Heather, Angela, Margie (Barry), and Colleen.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out to the family with love and support. Tom is and will be greatly missed by many.

A funeral will be held in 2025, where he will return to Halifax as he always wished. Please join us in a Celebration of Life Tribute on 25 Oct 2024.
