November 12, 1939 – January 8, 2025
Marlene Mary Letitia Parsons (nee Logan) was one of 9 children born to Margaret and Francis Logan in London, Ontario. Her father died in a car accident when she was only 12 years old.
She graduated from H. B. Beal Technical & Commercial High School, where she earned proficiency awards in Stenography, Shorthand, and Typewriting. Mom was also a member of the cheerleading squad, and she continued to dazzle us with some of her routines well into her 70’s.
While working in the office at Supertest Petroleum in London, Marlene met the love of her life, Gerry Parsons. They married in October 1958, and by 1963, they were raising 3 young sons - Randy, Wayne, and Kevin.
After the adventure of living in Montreal for a couple of years, Mar and Ger settled in Exeter, Ontario (aka the “Home of the White Squirrel”) in 1969. They loved the small-town way of life, and the people, and they made it their home for more than 50 years.
Once all 3 sons had finished university, Marlene gained her real estate license in 1988. She loved helping people to find the right home. She became a member of the RE/MAX Hall of Fame in 1999. Her strong work ethic and integrity resulted in long-term friendships with many of her clients.
In her leisure time, Mar enjoyed golfing, curling, dining out or cooking up a storm at home. She loved fishing and was equally happy chasing perch, pickerel, pike, or Pacific salmon, as long as Ger was sharing the experience with her.
Mom and Dad saw a lot of the world during their retirement years. They also made frequent trips to their condo in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where they enjoyed an abundance of sunshine and seafood together. Born to be wild, they toured many parts of Canada and the USA on Ger’s Harley-Davidson.
Mom’s passion for life, her determination and drive, and her unconditional love for her family, will keep her memory in our hearts forever.
She was predeceased by both of her parents, and her brothers Bob Logan and Fred Logan, her sisters Shirley Waghorn and Evelyn Sharp, her husband Gerry Parsons (2022), her youngest son Kevin Parsons (2023), and her daughter-in-law Brenda Pinder Parsons (2019).
Marlene is survived by her siblings Sharon Haskett, Deanna Barber, Joy Logan and Ron Logan, and 2 of her sons – Randy (Marcy) Parsons and Wayne (Kelly) Parsons, and daughter-in-law Laurie Anne Butler. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren - Jamie (Jessica) Parsons, Oriah Ori, Mason Parsons, Ashley (Matt) Tobin, and Hayley Baldry, and 2 great grandchildren – Libby and Quinn Tobin. And her dear friend and golf partner, Pat Fletcher.
There will be no service at this time. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place.
Special thanks to Dr. Kelly Emerson, and the staff and volunteers at Hospice Simcoe in Barrie, for making her final days as peaceful and pain free as possible.
We love you Mom…may you rest in peace.
