The family of Barbara Jean Partridge of Thornton, Ontario is saddened to announce her sudden passing on March 15th, 2023 at the age of 78 years.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 58 years, Colin; son: Paul (wife Leanne); daughters: Cheri Partridge, and Shelli Hickey (husband Blair); grandchildren: Brandon & fiancé Karizma, Alex, Brianna and Anika; great-grandson, Izaiah; brothers Don Real & wife Margaret, Bill Real & wife Lezlie, and Joe Real; sister Sandra Hood & husband Scott; 10 nephews and nieces, as well as numerous relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her loving parents: Frank and Eileen Real; brother, Robert Real; sister Sharon Real.

Barbara was born in Lindsay, Ontario and grew up with her 6 brothers and sisters on a farm near Black Water, Ontario.  She graduated from Brock Highschool in 1963 when she moved to Barrie, Ontario to take a job with Bell.  In 1965 she met her husband, Colin and in 1966 they welcomed their son, Paul.  In 1967 they moved to Germany with the Canadian Armed Forces.  In 1969 they had their second child, Cheri.  In 1971, they moved back to Canada and lived in Toronto where they had their third child, Shelli in 1972.   Colin’s service in the military took them back to CFB Borden in 1978, CFB Comox in 1984 and Ottawa in 1986.  In 1987 they settled in Thornton, Ontario where they live to this date.  Since her retirement Barbara has stayed busy playing a significant role in her children, grandchildren and great-grandson’s lives.  Barb and Colin created a home that was welcoming to everyone.  Their home was a place they shared with family, friends, and neighbours.  For her kids’ friends, Colin and Barbara were always the cool parents.  For their grandkids’ friends, they were the cool grandparents.  Her greatest joys came from seeing her grandchildren growing up and the birth of their one and only great-grandchild.  In Barbara’s spare time she enjoyed quilting.  She poured so much love into her quilts and most of those quilts found their way into the homes of those who she loved.  Barbara was loved by everyone she touched.  Sweet & Feisty pretty much describe Barbara.

A Visitation will be held at 2pm followed by a Memorial Service at 3pm, on March 22nd, at Adams Funeral Home in Barrie, Ontario located at 445 St. Vincent Street.  A Celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at Colin and Barbara’s home in Thornton in the Summer 2023.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made in Barbara Jean Partridge’s name to your local Ontario SPCA & Humane Society.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the Paramedics, Thornton Fire Department volunteer fire firefighters, the Nottawasaga OPP officers & the staff, nurses and doctors at Royal Victoria Hospital and their neighbours, Chris and Robin Rankin who all came to support Barbara and her family in their time of need late on March 14th.  Your efforts, caring and support will always be remembered.
