It is with a heavy heart that we are announcing that Katey Perry – Sheardown of Barrie, Ontario, 57, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2024, at the Hospice Simcoe, Barrie, Ontario, with her family by her side.

Katey was born to the late Janet Elizabeth Lucas (from England), January 20 1967, in Regina Saskatchewan. She attended Coronation Park Community School in Regina, and moved to Ontario when she was 10. Katey attended Haliburton High School in Ontario. After relocating back to Regina, she graduated. She attended hairdressing school in Regina and then moved back to Minden, Ontario where she attended Sir Sanford Fleming College. She worked as a hairdresser after graduating.

She was married to Rick Sheardown since 2006 and they lived in Barrie, Ontario. He was a loving caregiver to her in the final years of her life. Katey is survived by two beautiful daughters: Nikki Voicey, of Peterborough & Maddy Dydyk of Barrie. Katey will be greatly missed by her best friends Kay Foster, Mandy Wood, Tracy Lynn and Zorba Amos. She will be immensely missed by her mother-in-law Myrna Shellswell – Cook, who was like a 2nd mother to her.

Katey had a big heart & loving soul She was kind, caring & generous with her time and attention to others & could convey her intentions without words. She liked observing people & often said she could read people like a book. She liked for things to be done properly & liked things to be organized.

Katey had many artistic talents. She loved fashion, makeup, hairdressing & interior design. She loved decorating for the season & holidays. She adored animals and has had many pets over the years.

Katey loved to sing karaoke & loved country music. Her favourite artists were Reba McEntire & Dolly Parton

Internment to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, RVH Foundation or Hospice Simcoe.

Special thanks to the respiratory floor nurses & PSWs at RVH & to the staff at Hospice Simcoe. You were all attentive, caring & understanding.
