Marcela “Marcy” Rijo, a loving and devoted family woman, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her loved ones on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at the age of 83. Her courageous journey to Canada as a young nurse laid the foundation for four generations of a close-knit and adoring family.
Marcy was the beloved wife of Rafael Rijo for 53 years, and together they built a family filled with love and warmth. She was a cherished mother to Eileen (Tom Davies), Sheryl (Troy Wellington), Rafael Jr. (Denise Shannon), and Kelly Parliament. Her family was the center of her world, and she took immense pride and joy in her children, their spouses, and the growing family tree.
As a grandmother, Marcy's love knew no bounds. She adored her grandchildren Aleks (Courtney), Stevie (Carabeth), Ryan (Jenna), Sebastian (Marena), Nicholas, Raymond, Caleb, T.J, and Danielle. Her great-grandchildren Leon, Sean, Angelee, Sierra Rose, Aurora Marie, Savannah, and Jackson brought immense delight to her life.
Marcy's family will remember her for her unwavering kindness, generous spirit, and the immeasurable love she had for each of them. Her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched with her warm smile and kind heart, welcoming everyone equally.
A celebration of Marcy's life will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2024, from 1:00pm-4:00pm at the Dorian Parker Centre located at 227 Sunnidale Rd, Barrie, ON.
Memorial donations to the Busby Centre or Local Food Bank would be appreciated by the family.
