Born October 14, 1930 passed away June 30, 2020 at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, Ontario at the age of 89.
Born in Toronto, “Ernie” was a proud resident of Barrie and a pillar in the community for over 60 years. Through the years, Ernie served on various boards including the Barrie City Council, President of the Rotary Club and as Trustee for the Simcoe County School Board. Ernie also held several distinguished positions including Alderman for Barrie’s Ward 3 and as Commissionaire, Immigration Appeal Board for the Government of Canada.
Predeceased by his parents Morris and Sophie, and his sisters Ruth Cohen (Julie), and Claire Magder (Jesse). Ernie is survived by his wife of 67 years Joyce (nee Winkler). Father to Dr. Laurie Rotman (Dr. Van Akriotis) and Judi Rotman (Bill DiGregorio). Grandfather to Evan and Sydney, Esten and Zara. Due to Covid restrictions, a private family service has been held.
