It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Linda Karen Scott (née Onotsky), at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie on December 15, 2023, after a short battle with cancer.

Linda was born in Timmins, Ontario, to John and Joan Onotsky. Unfortunately, she lost her parents at a young age and moved to Hamilton to live with her sisters, Pauli and Diana. A few short years later, she met the love of her life, Randy Scott, and had two children, Shannon Beattie (Ian) and Sean Scott (Jennifer). Randy joined the police force, leading them to move to Toronto and then Barrie. During these years, Linda worked multiple jobs as an administrative assistant. Her favorite position was with Harlequin Romance Novels, and you would often find her reading on the boat during summer, claiming to be "fishing" but really enjoying her time alone.

Linda was her children’s biggest fan, but everything changed when her granddaughters arrived—Emma and Katherine Beattie and Parker and Quinn Scott. She was immensely proud of each one, and they adored her, cherishing the memories of beach trips and living room concerts. The girls have countless wonderful memories and miss her terribly.

Linda’s final job/hobby was buying and selling antiques. She would pack up her SUV and travel all over Ontario with her dog, Webster. Mom had an extended family of people who shared her love of antiques, and the outpouring of condolences after her passing would have been a pleasant surprise to her.

Linda is predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Randy Scott, her brother Gordon Onotsky, and her sister Frances Gross. She leaves behind her sisters, Pauli Onotsky and Diana McNiven, as well as her nieces Danica, Christina, and Lori-Ann. Linda also leaves behind her friends at La Plaza in Clearwater, Florida, where she spent her winters since 2017, and Wasaga Dunes in Wasaga Beach, where she spent her summers.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Dignified Funeral Alternatives, Angus, ON 705-790-6016
