Our dear Mother, JEAN THERESA SEYMOUR (LAW), of Barrie, Ontario joined her beloved husband, Robert Fleming Seymour, in their rightful place together amongst the stars on Monday February 12, 2024.
Jean was born on July 29, 1926 in Toronto, to Marion Agnes and William Duplex Law, a cherished baby sister for her brother, Norman Craig Law. Jean had a challenging depression-era childhood, which fostered her resourceful and resilient spirit. Prior to finishing high school, Jean worked during WWII as a farmerette in Niagara helping the war effort. After graduating Malvern CI, she went on to work for Ontario Hydro in the statistics department.
While working at Hydro, her charms caught the eye of a tall, shy engineer, and a blind date successfully blossomed into a 55-year love affair, producing four children: Anne, Jane, Bobby (Judy), & Mary (Greg). Her grandchildren were an amazing focus in her life; Toure (Barrett), Matthew, Cameron, Jonathan, Madelaine, Kelila, Liam, & Patrick, all adored her. She was a very special GG to sweet Jocelyn & Jade. In addition, she was a dear Auntie to Donna (Ed), Kent, Wendy, & Craig (Rosie).
During those early years of marriage, Jean made our King City home and a French Bay cottage childhood safe, fun, and full of adventures! Always driven, Jean fostered an independent spirit in each of her children, teaching us all the tools we needed to be kind, empathetic, determined, focussed and how to make the perfect shortbread cookie!
Jean found great joy in her Ladies’ Tennis group, Kingcraft, Neighbourhood Bridge Club and her social network of close friends. After moving north to Barrie, Jean continued to make family time paramount, yet still experienced joy in travelling, shopping, skiing and golf.
We would like to thank the RVH emergency team and the Cardiac-Renal Unit for their kindness and compassion during her stay. In lieu of flowers, please consider supporting this wonderful Barrie hospital (Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre).
Visitation will take place on Saturday, February 24th, 2024 from 2 pm until the time of service at 3 pm. A spring interment will take place at the Barrie Union Cemetery, 338 Sunnidale Rd., Barrie. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.steckleygooderham.com
Our mother’s passing will leave a massive void in our lives; however, we are all so very happy that mom has finally been reunited with her all-time #1 guy. We wish you joy in eternity, mom. Until we meet again…much love. xoxo
