It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Sheldrake, Margaretha (Slinger). After a courageous battle with lung cancer, Marg passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, September 27th, 2024, with family by her side. Marg Sheldrake spent most of her 84 years living in the small community of Springwater.

She was predeceased by her cherished husband and the love of her life, Sidney Sheldrake, who had passed away in 2004, as well as her youngest son, Richard (Rick) Sheldrake, who passed away in 2017.

She leaves behind her oldest son, Ronald (Ron) and his wife, Sandra of East Oro. Randy, her middle son and his wife Bonnie, of Oro Medonte. Along with her grandchildren, whom she took great pride in, Rachel, Olivia, Charlene and her great-granddaughter Isla.

Marg was born in Rotterdam, South Holland, Netherlands in 1939. She and her family boarded the Tabinta ship from her hometown in Rotterdam and arrived in Canada in April 1948. With her, she brought many of her Dutch traditions from her home in Holland, including baking goods and homemade food that she greeted you with on every visit, the sweet aroma of her delicious cooking. Marg’s skill set went far beyond the kitchen. She was a multi-talented woman who could do it all. She would have gotten it done if there were a way to figure it out. From working on her cars to dedicating her time to maintaining her property, there wasn’t much Marg couldn’t do. She was known for her beautifully manicured lawns, which she did with passion. But most of all, Marg taught the next generation the value of hard work and the importance of a kind heart. Traits she passed down on to her family.

In honour of Marg’s life, her family held a graveside service to reunite Marg and Sid.

Marg had a deep love for animals. Memorial Donations may be made in Marg Sheldrake’s name to support any animal organization.
