It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Frank Snape, on March 8, 2025, in his 90th year.

Frank (Frankie), was born in Burnley, Lancashire England in 1935 to Minnie Lukey and Christopher (Kit) Snape. He was a loving and protective big brother to his late step brothers, Alan, Harold (Mac) and David Wilkinson, following his mother's marriage to Clifford Wilkinson in Padiham, England.

Frank's artistic abilities and keen eye led him to attend technical school to train as a Painter and Decorator. He had various jobs painting for local breweries and his artwork and murals were seen in breweries all over Northern England. His time serving in the British Armed Forces was a reminder to him of the importance of comradery, family and a positive outlook.

At age 26, Frank married Edna Chadwick (predeceased), and in 1973 made the brave decision to move their three young children, Eric Snape (Tracy), Jeanette Hesson (Aaron) and Michelle Gilliland (Dan) across the ocean to Canada in search of new opportunities.

For over twenty-five years, Frank and his lifelong friend, Jeff Dawson operated the successful business, Jeffrank Decorations, in the Barrie area. His hard-work, dedication and incredible skill for paint techniques preceded his reputation.

A man of many talents and interests, Frankie was also an artist, jazz enthusiast, carpenter, handyman, poet, fisherman, Burnley Football Club and Leaf's fan. Although he had a wide range of passions he was above all known as a man with a relentless sense of humour, the ability to bring positivity and be the voice of reason in every situation. Frank's infectious laugh, quick wit and willingness to lend a hand to others, allowed him to make friends wherever he went leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Frank's legacy continues to live on through his seven grandchildren, Karissa (Jim), Jade, Emma, Gracie, Luke, Matthew, Georgia and his great grandson Colin. He will be deeply missed by his brother in-laws, Eric (Eileen) and Alan (Elsie) Chadwick as well as his many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Sunday, March 16, 2025 from 3 PM until the time we celebrate Frank’s life in the Chapel at 4 PM.  Following the service, guests are invited to remain for a reception in the lounge.

The family would like to thank the many caregivers and friends who provided support and compassion to Frank through the years. Donations in his memory may be made to The Salvation Army and Hospice Simcoe.
