It is with heartbreak that we announce the death of Kimberly Anne Thomson, beloved wife, mother, friend and advocate. Kimberly passed away unexpectedly on November 7th, 2024, leaving a void that will be hard to replace.
Kimberly was born prematurely in Toronto in 1968 to Joseph (Edward) and Frances, from the very start she declared to her parents and to the world that she was here and ready to take on all that life brought forward. Curious, tenacious, open and adventurous as a child, Kimberly kept her parents and other family members quite busy and entertained. She was always there to step up first and offer a helping hand wherever and whenever needed. Growing into adulthood she attended Centennial College for Recreation Leadership and then on to the University of Waterloo for Kinesiology. Ever passionate about children and youth, she began work in the nonprofit sector focused on early years and children’s services before finding her place at Rainbows for All Children as National Director. Never one to not stay busy, she also took additional post graduate courses to broaden her expertise and understanding even becoming registered as a Doula. Kimberly was always focused on doing her best each and every day. A true legacy of giving, compassion and support.
Kimberly was a loving wife and life partner to James, mother to Connor, Ceilidh, Kieran and Aiden (who sadly passed before she was born). She loved them with all her being and was their greatest supporter, cheerleader and at times, confidant. She often commented on how motherhood was at the soul of her very being and brought that out in her affection with her children who felt that love each and every day.
Kimberly took special joy in being with family and friends and loved the holidays where everyone could come together and just spend time being in each other’s company. We are all so thankful for the time we had together.
Kimberly was preceded in death by her mom Frances, her eldest son Connor who sadly passed away at the age of 11 from childhood cancer, and is survived by her husband James, children Ceilidh and Kieran, her father Joseph (Edward) and his partner Pauline. They will be forever thankful for being a part of Kimberly's life and will never forget the love she brought to theirs.
A visitation will be held on November 15th at Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Services between the hours of 12 pm and 2 pm followed by the funeral service at 2 pm. A Reception will take place following the funeral service for family, friends and community to gather, support one another and reflect on a life well lived.
Donations to Rainbows for All Children Canada in Kimberly’s name are greatly appreciated.
