A 40-year-old Barrie man faces a slew of child pornography charges after a months-long investigation by local police.

Detectives from the Barrie Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) arrested the man on Wednesday, Dec. 18 after a three-month investigation.

The man was arrested after the ICE unit executed a search warrant as part of the ongoing investigation at the residence of the accused and seized several computer devices containing child pornography.

Police said the investigation confirmed that the accused used the web service provider Yahoo to upload child pornography to the internet.

The man was charged with accessing child pornography, two counts of possession of child pornography and distribution of child pornography and was held for a bail hearing.
