Barrie man faces 10 counts of credit card fraud

Aug. 29 update

Barrie Police have identified the suspect in the possession of stolen credit cards and fraudulent transactions as a 48-year-old Barrie male. On Monday, Aug. 27, 2018 the male was arrested and charged with 10 counts of fraudulent use of credit card and one count of possession of property obtained by crime. He was held for bail court for the same day.

Barrie Police are looking to identify a male who was captured on video surveillance using a stolen credit card after 10 transactions were attempted on financial cards from a stolen wallet.

Overnight between Sunday, Aug. 19 and Monday, Aug. 20, 2018 a vehicle was entered in the area of Broadfoot Road in the City of Barrie. Various items were stolen including the owners wallet with financial cards inside. The owner was awoken to a phone call from his financial institution over some suspicious activity. He soon learned two of his cards were used through out the night at seven businesses throughout Barrie, exceeding $500 in fraudulent purchases.

Suspect description:

  • Male, white
  • Brown hair with grey unshaven scruff
  • Medium build
  • Wearing a blue and white tie-dyed Blue Jays hat, black t-shirt and jeans
