Barrie police make arrests in 'violent' downtown incidents

Two men arrested Saturday in north-end Barrie after they were allegedly found in possession of a loaded firearm and a large quantity of fentanyl, say police

City police arrested two men yesterday afternoon on Davidson Street in north-end Barrie after they were allegedly found to be in possession of a loaded firearm and a large quantity of fentanyl.

The arrests were related to the investigation into “violent incidents” that happened in the early morning hours Saturday in downtown Barrie.

According to police, a series of violent incidents occurred between 2 a.m. and 3:30 a.m.

Police said they occurred on Dunlop Street East in the city’s downtown core.

They offered no further information at this time, but said details will be shared as the investigation permits.

Police are continuing with the investigation and are asking for the public's assistance in obtaining any video footage.
