Barrie police are on scene for a fatal shooting involving a teenager in the city's south end Friday night.
Shortly after 9:30 p.m., a police officer at the scene confirmed to BarrieToday that a 17-year-old male was shot and killed outside the home.
No arrests have been made, the officer said.
Police say they responded to the scene of an "apparent homicide" around 6 p.m.
"The suspects are currently outstanding and the investigation is ongoing, with police resources including tactical support and K-9 units on scene," city police said in a news release issued shortly before 10:30 p.m.
Police say they do not believe there are any concerns for public safety.
The public is being asked to avoid the area of Golden Meadow Road and Hurst Drive.
A BarrieToday reporter at the scene says police appear to be focused on a River Ridge Road home.
There are several police vehicles at the scene as well as an ambulance in the street. A portion of the street is taped off and officers are videotaping the area.
BarrieToday will have more details as they become available.
