Driver error sends vehicle through Reitmans storefront in north-end Barrie

'It appears the driver stepped on the gas instead of the brake and went through the front of the store,' says Barrie police official

The front of a Bayfield Street business in north-end Barrie is boarded up this afternoon after a vehicle drove through the front window Tuesday morning.

At 10:35 a.m., Nov. 30, city police responded to 498 Bayfield St., where a vehicle had driven through the Reitmans storefront.

Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon said the two women in the vehicle were not seriously injured and driver error was to blame for the crash at the women's clothing store.

β€œIt appears the driver stepped on the gas instead of the brake and went through the front of the store,” Leon told BarrieToday. β€œIt doesn't look like there is any structural damage to the building and, being it was private property, no charges are being laid.”
