Four people charged after gun, drugs seized from Orillia home

Provincial police say officers seized drugs and a loaded handgun from an Orillia residence Tuesday.

Four people have been charged after police seized drugs and a handgun from an Orillia residence Tuesday.

A search warrant was executed at a home on Nottawasaga Street, where police say they seized a loaded .380-calibre handgun, .22-calibre ammunition, 103 grams of fentanyl, 519 grams of cocaine, 11 oxycodone pills, $2,250 in cash, drug packaging and cellular devices.

An 18-year-old Ajax man has been charged with two counts of possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking (opioid other than heroin), and one count each of possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine), unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a weapon, possession of a prohibited firearm with ammo, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a firearm knowing the serial number has been tampered with, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and resisting a peace officer.

A 14-year-old from Ajax, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, faces the same charges, except for resisting a peace officer.

A 42-year-old Orillia woman has been charged with failure to comply with a release order (other than to attend court).

The three accused were held for bail hearings Tuesday in Barrie.

A 29-year-old Orillia man has been charged with failure to comply with probation. He was released on a promise to appear in Orillia court on Dec. 12.
