Penetanguishene man faces impaired driving charges

TINY TOWNSHIP - On Aug. 25, 2018 at 2:33 a.m. two officers on patrol from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) came upon the scene of a single vehicle rollover on the east side of Highway 93 near Subway Road in Tiny Township.

Attending officers checked on the well being of the lone male occupant and entered into a drinking and driving investigation after speaking to him.

As a result of the investigation Keith Kornyk 32 years of Penetanguishene has been charged with the following:

  • CC 253(1)(a) Driving While Ability Impaired - motor vehicle (Alcohol and Drug) contrary to section 253 (1) (a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • CC 253(1)(b) Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood contrary to section 253 (1) (b) of the Criminal Code of Canada

His vehicle has been impounded for seven days and his driver's licence has been suspended for 90 days under the Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS) He was released from police custody on a recognizance to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on Sept. 6, 2018.

Police remind motorists that an essential part of the enforcement job is to save lives and reduce injuries on our trails, roadways and waterways. Educating the public about safe driving practices is a priority.
